In my opinion, my interest in documentaries varies greatly. In many cases, i have started a documentary and in the first few minutes, was able to tell if i was going to continue to watch or just turn it off. But in a lot of the cases where i wanted to turn them off, i ended off really enjoying it. I was always too quick to judge because in many cases they start out on a very low note, in my opinion. I have seen many and i can say that most of them that i watched outside of class, really caught my attention. i was never very intrigued by the ones we watched in school. There is one that i watched many times and it really caught my attention and i would recommend it to everyone. It is called "The Fat Boy Chronicles" and it can be found on Netflix. It had such an inspirational message. It is basically about a young boy and the struggles he faces of being overweight. It tells many stories in the documentary and also shows the impact of bulling towards people. I wouldn't say it is a typical documentary. The way its produced is in a more informal manner but it really gets the message across. It even made me shed a tear! Documentaries provide a great variety of ways information can be portrayed to the viewer. Although one may think many documentaries are alike, a vast majority are extremely different. One may think they are boring because it is not like a typical tv show in the sense that it is usually not a funny matter and typically has a person narrating it. Many people can be helped in their writing by watching a few documentaries because of the subject matter. The vocabulary used in documentaries usually isn't a typical dialogue that many teenagers use on a day to day basis. I love the way documentaries capture the reality of the topic and bring it to you from a scientific standpoint. They tend to go into deep details of the topic and bring a different view on it. most of the topics are not about the basic shows one would watch on tv. I personally think the best part of it all is that it is all REAL people, REAL actors and REAL events. It's not made up like 90% of the stuff shown on regular tv shows. I think thats what draws the most people. Documentaries have an emotional pull towards them.
